Tell Us Your Good Deed

I am a very visible person. By size, personality, inclination and training. I've spent my whole life learning how to entertain people; to make them laugh, cry, feel and think. I enjoy moving people, making them pay attention and listen.
Ever since I came out as trans (and queer, and poly and a number of other things too), I have tried to use my voice and my visibility not merely to entertain (though that's certainly worthwhile too), but to change our communities and our society, to change the world. To amplify the voices of marginalized people who lack the ability to make others listen. To be visible so that others who are not so comfortable in the harsh glare of the spotlight don't have to be. So this world may be a better, happier, safer place for those who might not have a voice like mine.
To put this philosophy into practice, I work with a number of advocacy and outreach organizations. I also speak, perform and write about gender and sexuality. And sometimes I even get to make people just laugh too!

Why are you participating?

I am participating because I believe that being visible; seeing, hearing, and speaking out about the evil I see in the world; is the right thing to do. This project and these photos are a literal interpretation of that philosophy.
