Founded Art for Change, a nonprofit organization, located in New York City, with the mission of using art as a catalyst of social change. I'm currently developing a social venture, "Migrant Voice Projects," an innovation laboratory that strives to create opportunities for immigrants and Latinos themselves to address inequality using technology and bottom-up strategies as drivers for community transformation. One of its projects is to publish bilingual children books in order to support and increase the literacy skills among bilingual children.

Why are you participating?

Stereotypes contribute to the lack of empathy and solidarity which I firmly believe are necessary for the building of a happier and more equitable global community.

I helped organize a competitive, community-oriented creative-writing/performance poetry group in Tunkhannock, PA called The Breaking Ground Poets. We offer workshops and hold open mics, and host local competitions. We also invite published performance poets to visit and perform, and we attended Brave New Voices in August.

Why are you participating?

Because I believe in the potential of every person to do great things and rise above their selfishness and circumstance. People are fucking beautiful.

One good deed that I have done is I pick up garbage whenever I see it outside and I hold onto it until I can place it in a garbage. I also dig recyclables out of the trash and recycle them.

Why are you participating?

I think this is a very clever and creative organization. It gets the word out about doing good unto others, it promotes peace, and it encourages all people to be nonjudgmental. Keep up the amazing work and thank you for this opportunity! :)

I volunteer at an Alzheimer home and I keep the residents company by playing games with them or listening to their stories.

Why are you participating?

I am participating because I want to be apart of something bigger than myself. I want to show people that there is always goodness in everyone.

Tell Us Your Good Deed

From all of the service trips and volunteering that I've done I try to constantly live with the realities of others in mind. I also try to smile a lot and look people in the eye, because everyone matters.

Why are you participating?

I think that confronting stereotypes and seeing the good in others will help perpetuate peace around the world.
