I try to have a good word and pleasant attitude for people with whom I come into contact. you never know when a kind word can turn someone's day around. The whole pebble in the pond thing.

Three years ago, I met a second year student from North High School at a Sister-to-Sister Conference. I was listening to a group of girls describe issues that they were struggling with. Afterwards, a 15 year old girl approached me to state that she was having a difficult time in her math class and was concerned about passing the mathematics portion of the MCAS that following spring. It was a serendipitous moment. I saw a spark in this young woman and knew she would be successful. We met weekly for 7 months, and she not only passed the MCAS, but got As and Bs in her math class.
