I volunteered with an organization called Horizons for Homeless Children and am co-director of a club at Clark University called Youth Outreach Worcester -- we visit local high schools and facilitate classes on identity development and social justice.

Why are you participating?

It's taken me a long time to learn that how others see you does not define you.

During the heatwave this summer, I made sure to have water, Powerade and protein bars for the folks in our community experiencing homelessness.

Why are you participating?

Being Jewish and queer means a lot of people decide who I am before meeting or talking to me and I'm more than the amazing identities I was born with!

I was the crazy cat lady in the neighborhood. Had spare kittens? I took them and vaccinated them and spayed them. Had annoying strays? I took them in and socialized them until they were ready for adoption. Those that were feral and weren't able to be adopted, I fed and watered and took to the vet as needed.

Why are you participating?

I thought this was a really neat way to say behind the labels we are all just people doing the best we can for ourselves and our fellow beings on this Earth. I'm a radical, and part of the radicalness I aim to achieve are radical acts of kindness that go beyond what a person expects.

I've been a mitzvah clown and visited hospitals and old age homes to bring people going through difficult times some form of joy and escape.

I think it's important that people feel like they are allowed to be themselves.

Being someone that was bullied throughout my whole life, I make sure if I see someone who is alone or visibly disturbed I always step in.

Why are you participating?

Self expression is so important. Expressing yourself through creativity or community helped me so much. I pray people will find themselves to become their authentic self.
