I volunteer with LGBTQ youth at Safe Homes in Worcester. I love being an example to the kids that growing up doesn't have to mean conforming. I'm not sure that it qualifies as a good deed though. I think they have done more to help me than I have to help them. They remind me why I'm an activist and why the LGBTQ community needs people like myself.

Why are you participating?

I truly believe that stereotypes are a detriment to our society. I am judged every singly day of my life and I know that most of those judgements are wrong.

I'm an International Development and Social Change major. I really hope to use it in some beneficial way, to help people and reduce the great amount of suffering in the world. I'm particularly interested in health, especially sexual health. I am a sexual educator on my college campus. I am also extremely interested in studying the relationship between economic development, health, and the environment. I want to devote my life to something good, and am working hard to achieve that.

Why are you participating?

I think one of the most essential ways to improve our society is to encourage others to embrace egalitarianism - or the belief that everyone is equal in fundamental worth, no matter what labels society gives them.

Tell Us Your Good Deed

Every time I would go to the city, I would bring extra food and drinks with me and give them to the homeless I'd see while I was walking along the way to the mall, wanting nothing in return. I'd bring things varying from sandwiches to chicken etc. To this day, when I go to the city I always have an extra drink and snack with me, if not a meal.

Why are you participating?

I'm participating to bring light to issues that are troubling us, generations before us, and generations after us. Words hurt deep more than people imagine, a lot can be learned from this project, those who participate and the good that comes from it.

I proudly supported my country by serving in the U S Military (4 tours in Iraq). As a former Eagle Scout and still try to be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent. I helped to bring a wonderful little boy into this world, and I try to do my best to make sure he feels loved and is brought up with good values.

I feel a lot of time people view those of us with tattoos and piercings with fear and apprehension. To me, it is an art form and manner of self expression. Maybe if people got to know a little about those different from themselves, they would be more accepting of their packaging.
