Tell Us Your Good Deed

One thing people may not expect to hear about someone that looks as I do is that I have helped to raise 5 children that weren't even mine. Things are NOT always what they seem, and judgments are just that.

Why are you participating?

It seemed like an honest and kool project. Any time someone takes the time to actually approach me instead of judging me from a distance, I feel it is worth to give back that time from my side as well.

I am the Treasurer of my local PTA and I volunteer a lot in my local community and school district. I am passionate about education, learning, and helping children reach their potential.

Why are you participating?

As a single working mom and a full time student with lots of tattoos I don't always "Fit In", but I never let it stop me from doing the right things, being generous, treating people with kindness, and helping others whenever possible!

Every year I do the 20 Mile Walk for Hunger to raise money for food pantries and soup kitchens in my community.

Why are you participating?

Don't judge a book by its cover! During the day I am an administrative professional, by night a Hip Hop loving party girl. Recycle bit*hes!!!!

I never judge people by their transgressions. Everybody makes mistakes, and I like that having an open heart allows others to do the same in my presence. I like to show people through acceptance, that it's ok to love one another, especially the flawed parts. And I try to teach my children the same.

When I'm out driving I try to let every other car go and if I'm behind someone that has a break light out if it's safe and possible I pull up next to them to let them know.

Doing what's right all the time especially when it's not self serving. This includes not letting others take your blame for something, or returning any item (money, objects) that is not rightfully yours and would have gone unnoticed or forgotten. Boils down to treating others how you would like to be treated. Fairly, honestly, and nicely.
On vacation, I reported lost money at a campground when camp workers and family told me to just pocket it. The sad part was no one came looking for it because they must have assumed that someone would pocket it.

Why are you participating?

I was asked mainly. If I were to do a project like this I would like people to participate for me.

Listening. Everyone has a story that they are dying to share with someone. I find that when I listen to someone's story, the smile they walk away with afterwards is much bigger than the smile they'd walk away with from any advice I can give.

I was responsible for implementing a program in my high school against bullying in secondary schools.

Why are you participating?

I am participating because I believe it is extremely important for leaders around the U.S. to be involved.
