I taught my kids to ask, "What can I do to help?" I try to live up to that myself; sometimes it involves jumper cables on a dark and stormy night, and sometimes it doesn't need to be any more than a well-placed grin.
I believe we were put here to listen to each other's stories, and to help each other along in the parade of life. Applications for free hugs are always given serious attention.

I have helped people going through a hard time by being a person to listen and help them in any way I possibly could. Whether they needed advice, a friend, or even just someone to rant to, I was always there and I plan on continuing to do so.

I'm an art teacher, which means that the classroom teachers are responsible for picking up their students from my class. One grade of teachers knows my lunch is right after their class and see that as an invitation to take a few extra minutes because I don't teach a class directly after it. There is one teacher who is always on time. It means a lot to me. Since it is the end of the school year I made sure to write her a nice card explaining how much I appreciated it and how her effort didn't go unnoticed.
In the TV show Six Feet Under one of the characters says "I think that every once in awhile a person should get what they want, when they want it.
