Tell Us Your Good Deed

I utilize my lived experience with mental illness to help make systemic change and advocate for other youth and young adults living with mental, emotional and behavioral health needs.

Why are you participating?

The stigma surrounding mental health deters people from reaching out. I want to show people that they can live a happy, successful life beyond their diagnoses- they are not their mental illness!

Tell Us Your Good Deed

I will help anyone, any time, day or night.

Why are you participating?

This labeling was difficult but enjoyable. What an interesting way to get to know someone. There IS good in everyone!

Tell Us Your Good Deed

I volunteer and foster cats / kittens. Last year I fostered 7 dogs. I get to fall in love 20+ times a day and make a homeless / abandoned / abused animal feel like a king or queen in my home! The love I receive back is amazing, especially at night when they are all sleeping on me! They make me feel so good!

Why are you participating?

Sometimes I can't watch the news because there seems to be so much bad stuff going on and I would like to believe their is more good than evil!!

Tell Us Your Good Deed

I offered my teeny freezer that fits dorm regulations to my floormate who needed her ice pack re-freezed. She twisted her ankle the night before and couldn't move around very much because of her crutches.

Why are you participating?

I am participating because a nice family approached me on the street.

Tell Us Your Good Deed

Forgave when others would not, Love with no expectation of return, held on when others would let go and I never give up hope on brighter days ahead...

Why are you participating?

I believe in the goodness of all people. I believe it is the heart that makes us beautiful and not our outward appearance. I believe we are all here to help each other grow to our fullest potential. I believe we are all worthy of second chances.

Tell Us Your Good Deed

I believe that it is important to end every day knowing that you somehow tried to make it the world a better place since the morning. I apply this philosophy in everything. I work as a Middle School Guidance Counselor. I go above and beyond to make sure my students are safe emotionally and mentally. I want to impact the world for the better (like a superhero.) I work hard not only to be a great counselor, but a positive mentor and role-model for all of my students. A lot of children (and adults) need someone to help guide them discover who they really are.

Why are you participating?

I love photography (and making funny faces) so this project attracted me. I also believe that everybody has a little bit of good in them. Under all the negative labels we apply to everyone there is a story to that person and their life.

Tell Us Your Good Deed

So there I was hitch-hiking across the country, hungry, tired, and nearly broke. I was seeking out the true face of America, making my own personal journey to find myself as well as a deeper meaning to life. I got dropped off in a major west coast city in southern California. I asked around where I could find a metro bus station, found out where it was, and headed that way to try and catch a ride to the city limits. When I arrived there was a woman and three of her children waiting for their bus. The woman was talking on a cell phone and I overheard bits of the conversation.
