I volunteered this past summer as a camp counselor at the Circle of Tapawingo. The program is a free one-week overnight camp for bereaved girls between the ages of eight and 16. The campers arrive sharing the common bond of loss and they leave with feelings similar to these expressed by a camper in a thank-you note to her counselors:
"My father died four years ago. He always used to give me presents and I miss that. I wish I could tell him that the best present I've received since he died was my week at Circle of Tapawingo."

I love music and love to sing. I also play the piano. Although I'm not an "accomplished" musician I enjoy opportunities to share my love of music. I volunteer in my church and sing with the kids in our church school. I also volunteer at the day camp in the summer. It's such a joy when the kids really use their "singing voices", learn a new song and actually master singing a round. Kid's singing together is a sure "smile maker"! All the better when parents, grandparents, aunties and uncles sing along ...
Troy contacted the Worcester Women's History Project and I'm the president. It sounded like a lot of fun and I think it's a great project. Too much "demonizing" going on these days ... glad to see someone trying to celebrate our differences in a positive way.

I am a volunteer for a local shelter where I help feed the cats & take care of them. I am a huge animal lover and have rescued several animals, including one that was homeless on the beach in Guatemala. I try to be a giver more than anything because it creates a positive chain reaction.
I love unique projects like this! I think it was daring for the artist to come up with this project and spread it out in public like wildfire! What a wonderful way to create awareness that JUDGING people is never a positive thing, and will only hurt people.

I am a residential director of a locked residential program for adolescent trauma victims. My daily role is to help these adolescents be more than their mental health diagnosis. I encourage them to say, "I struggle with cutting" rather than "I am a cutter." Changing their language is healing and powerful and has the power of transformation! They are incredible young adults with incredible futures and I'm honored to work with them.
I think the project is an amazing idea and encourages people to revive the sense of community.. Care about others as we want to be cared for!
