I volunteer multiple times a year as a blood drive recruiter for the Heinlein Society. We participate with multiple hospitals in the metro Boston area, collecting donations from Science Fiction, Fantasy and Steampunk fans alike.
When people hear the terms "widow" or "disabled" they think "Oh, what a shame." I've never considered either status a reason to be pitied. These are things that have happened to me but do not define who I am.

Simple day to day deeds; assisting a person onto the bus, giving my seat up when it is crowded, holding the door for a package loaded shopper, engaging in silly faces with a child whose parent is currently overwhelmed and needs a moment to breathe. They might be little, but sometimes they have the biggest impact to a person’s day.

I do talks on the making of classic films for senior residences and groups.
Well, one label that affects me is "science fiction" (which is similar to but not the same as your listing of "science fantasy"). I am a fan, a panelist at conventions, and the author of several published books and short stories.

I mentor younger artists and writers. I promote the work of a late artist friend whose work got very little attention in her lifetime.
Because when people hear the label first, they have an image ready to pop up into their heads that doesn't usually fit.

I have donated money and bought groceries on multiple occasions for persons in need of food
I believe in random acts of kindness and would like to see more people take an interest in doing so, to spread the idea that we can make the world a better place one person at a time
