I volunteer with Laundry Love, a program that seeks to bring economic relief by helping with the cost of laundry so that scarce funds can be used for food, gas, school supplies, etc.

In retirement I am an amazing volunteer for children's gardening. I teach about organic gardening, healthy eating and returning resources to the earth not landfill. My commitments include finding free, clean soil and compost, plants and seeds, plant supports and natural insect/disease solutions. Next week the children, staff and I will feast on our early corn as well as a salad from our garden. My favorite garden this year is an American Indian Montessori site.
Firstly, I am participating out of my respect for Troy Thompson and his creation of this amazing project.

After speaking with hungry people while traveling, I returned to the United States and started volunteering in local food shelves. A mentor encouraged me to start Harvest Pack. Since 2012 we have packaged million of meals and donated them locally and internationally. We provide an opportunity for schools, religious organizations and businesses to volunteer and package nutritious meals.
People need to be the change they want to see in the world. Many good deeds will go undone unless you do them. I see a lot of good in making people aware of the good they posses. The No Evil Project exemplifies the direction people should be moving in the world.

Being kind takes more energy than not, but it is so nice to see people respond in kindness, it is infectious.
Everyone needs to be responsible and accountable to what we say and do.

I just lost a job I loved in Cambridge MA. Moving meant downsizing - a lot. Dawn was an assistant manager at my local laundromat. We spent a lot of time talking on those Saturday laundry days. I found out she had a tough life and very little of her own that wasn't from a Thrift Store or 3-hand. I asked her if she could stop by my apartment one day after her shift. I then gave her the entire contents of my kitchen: dishes, flatware, cooking utensils, you name it. We both cried like babies and it was a beautiful moment in an otherwise bittersweet time.
Everyone has a grand capacity for good!
