Tell Us Your Good Deed

I saved my brother from drowning when we were kids.

Why are you participating?

I am participating in the project because labels have negatively affected me and I would like people to know me for who I am as a person rather than just a few groups (ethnic, social, economic) that I am a part of.

I volunteer at the Boys and Girls club in the Homework room. It is definitely one of the best experiences because the kids are so amazing and I hope I make them smile as much as they make me smile. I also love to laugh. If I can make at least one person laugh with me a day, then it's been a good day!

Why are you participating?

Everyone has some good in them, it just may not be the first thing you see. We need to give people a chance and from my experience it's usually worth it!

One good thing that I have done to be admitted to the No Evil Project collection is standing up for my best friend when he was being bullied. I couldn't stand seeing such derogatory acts for amusement and laughter. I didn't care that the people who were saying it were also my friends, but I saw how it was negatively effecting my friend and needed to take action. Though people sometimes can not defend themselves against bullying, I believe projects like the No Evil Project will help educate people to stop bullying and show how damaging the effects are on defenseless people.

Why are you participating?

I am tired of seeing people be bullied around for amusement and laughter.

Tell Us Your Good Deed

I try to live my life based on what my heart tells me. I always try to make my decision based on what I feel is the right thing to do. I put others before myself. Nothing makes me happier than seeing my friends and family smile because of something I have done for them.

As a Resident Assistant for freshmen I strove to open the lines of communication through establishing tolerance and respect among one another.

I also believe in love. I have hope for the future. I try to live each day as its my last, so I will never have any regrets.

Why are you participating?

I am participating in the No Evil Project because it is a wonderful outreach effort to spread diversity in the local community. Everyone is different, unique and special. This is an important cause that has made me look at diversity in ways I never thought possible.

I have been volunteering at a local nursing home for years. I enjoy getting the opportunity to listen to their stories and I get satisfaction out of knowing that I can help. Having a visitor makes their day and I love being able to just make them feel appreciated.

Why are you participating?

We all know how it is to feel different. Rather than making it a bad thing, we should appreciate one another's differences and realize how important diversity is. We are all labeled, but it is up to us to make others feel accepted.

Every summer since I was a junior in high school I have devoted two weeks of my summer to volunteering as a camp counselor at Camp Sunshine in Maine. It is a camp for kids with life-threatening illnesses and their families. Camp Sunshine is my favorite place in the world; those families are some of the strongest people I have ever met in my life. Because the kids I have met there have given me the most eye-opening experiences of my life, I am now in school to become a PA to make a career out of helping children fight their battles against disease.

Why are you participating?

I am participating to support Quinnipiac University in its fight to stop the judgments and stereotypes that are made every day.

I'm a happy guy and I love to see those around me happy. I make it my mission everyday to put a smile on whoever is around me. We all have problems and we cannot always see what everyone else is going through. I found out that for me, the best remedy for any issue is just to have a laugh or even just put a smile on. I figure it can work for those around me, too.
